OVERSHOT FLAKE

WINDY CITY SITE

     This large overshot flake was found on the Windy

City site in northern Maine. It's a typical example of

a type of break pattern that is found on Clovis sites

across the United States. The arrow points in the

direction of the vector of force and the opposite

edge of the biface that was removed. This overshot

flake is made of Munsungan chert and it measures
approximately 3 1/4 inches (8.2 cm) long and 1 7/8

inches (4.7 cm) wide.
