    This picture was taken in June of 1937 by Robert Bell. It shows two ladies looking down at the WPA excavation of the "great mortuary" floor plan where the Pocola Mining Company discovered an opening to the central chamber. Several caches of conch shell can be seen along with some of the original cedar poles that appear remarkably preserved.
