All of these Ramey knives are made of the more colorful
Kaolin chert, as
opposed to the more common gray and
brown colored Mill Creek chert. They exhibit a wide
range of
colors, from white to red. The chert also varies in quality
from grainy to fine
grained. These five knives were found in
Illinois and they
range in size from 6 1/8 to 8 5/16 (15.5 to 21.1
cm) long.
