   This notched hoe represents another one of the

nicest examples of notched hoes that we know of

in private collections. It was found several years

ago in Madison County, Illinois and may have been
found on the Cahokia Mounds site. It is made of Kaolin

chert and measures approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm)

long.
