   These eight Fan-Eared points were collected in the

Sub-Sahara region of Africa in either Mali or Niger.

Because they are so delicately made, most Fan-Eared

points are found with either a point or barb broken off.
Two of these examples have one barb missing and

another is missing the tip of the point. The longest

point in this picture measures 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm) long,

9/16 inch (1.4 cm) wide and 1/8 inch (2.3mm) thick.
