LLAMA FIGURE
CONOPA

INCA CULTURE
NEAR CUZCO, PERU
PRIVATE COLLECTION

This long necked llama conopa was collected near

Cuzco, Peru. It's believed that these larger examples

that have bulging eyes rather than drilled holes for

eyes were made a little later during the Pre-Columbian
Inca period. This is the largest conopa in the group.

It's made of a two color mottled and stripped granite

and measures 4 1/2 inches (11.4 cm) high, which is

larger than most conopas.

Three views of a large llama conopa.
