COGGED STONE This eight-notch cogged stone was originally collected sometime before 1938 by Vance Nelson Robb. It was made from a good quality hard stone that may be granite. It was made by pecking the surface into shape with a hammerstone. Both faces and the ends of the points show smoothing from handling. Both faces are also slightly concave by approximately 1/16 of an inch (1.2 mm). This cogged stone measures 3 11/16 inches (9.4 cm) in diameter and 1 9/32 inches (4.1 cm) thick.
