MISSISSIPPIAN CULTURE

LIZ KASSLY COLLECTION
RETURN TO PAGE 1

This clay head was found in a cultivated field in

Monroe County, Illinois by Liz Kassly in 2002. There

are several features that make it a little unique if

compared to most Mississippian culture ceramic
human forms. The unique features on this piece

involve the bird-like "top-not," the eye with the

carved pupil, the mouth with individually carved

teeth and the means attachment on the bottom.
