BLADE
This is the best
example of a blade that is reported from the pre-Clovis level on the
Cactus Hill site. It was struck from a prepared core and used as a
simple unifacial tool for either cutting or scraping. Core blades
that are similar in size and shape to this example are classic
Clovis period tools. They were made into different types of tools,
such as, end-scrapers, lamas type tools, perforators and
side-scrapers. This blade is made from a very grainy quartzite and
it measures 3 7/16 inches
(8.7 cm) long.
