    These 65 Avonlea arrowheads were excavated

many years ago by H.P. Lewis on a bison kill site

near Conrad, Montana. They are considered to be

one of the earliest arrow points in the northwestern

Plains. The examples in this picture illustrate some

of the variation in these points. Some have straight

& concave bases and straight & convex edges. Some

have also been altered by resharpening. The longest

point in this group measures 1 11/16 inches (4.3 cm)

long.
