AVONLEA POINTS
These 65 Avonlea arrowheads were excavated many years ago by H.P. Lewis on a bison kill site near Conrad, Montana. They are considered to be one of the earliest arrow points in the northwestern Plains. The examples in this picture illustrate some of the variation in these points. Some have straight & concave bases and straight & convex edges. Some have also been altered by resharpening. The longest point in this group measures 1 11/16 inches (4.3 cm) long. |
