4-A LARGE OBSIDIAN BIFACE CORE

   This is the largest biface in the Fenn cache. It measures slightly over 8 inches long and is made of Obsidian. Large flaked stone objects like this example are not tools but are interpreted as biface cores. Flakes driven from these larger objects were shaped into a variety of  different tools types. As these bifaces were reduced in size they eventually were fashioned into Clovis points and fluted knives.
