The majority of these Clovis artifacts were borrowed from two large collections. The fractured mammoth bone, three small Clovis points and a small flake, are from the Lange/Ferguson mammoth kill site located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The large stone spear points & late and early stage preforms are from the Fenn cache that was discovered several years ago somewhere in the region of northeastern Utah.
The Clovis culture is the oldest recognized cultural tradition in North America. Sometime before 14,000 years ago these people entered the New World. At the time of their arrival it is estimated that an additional 2.2 billion acres of land was exposed along the U.S. coastline. It's logical to assume that Clovis people also lived and hunted in that area.
